The Good News in Catholic Education

May 2007

Dear Students and Parents,

During May we celebrate the rebirth of nature and look toward our Heavenly Mother as a guide to lead us closer to Jesus. During this month we honor all mothers through prayer as a sign of our love. We especially honor Our Blessed Mother with a May Procession from school to the Church.

Our May devotions this year will be on
Wednesday, May 9 at 6:15 PM.

We will all meet in the school yard to process over to church for Mass and May Crowning. Everyone is invited to join us for this devotion. A paper will be coming home to allow for the students let us know that they will be part of the May Crowning.

Help Needed

Our lunch time recess is in need of more volunteer Mothers and Fathers or Grandparents. If you have free time on any day and can come to help, please do so. You do not have to be scheduled to come and help. The students look forward to seeing their parents or grandparents here at school to help out and your presence is of great benefit to the school.

Open House & Basket Auction Bonanza

Home & School is sponsoring our First Annual Open House and Basket Bonanza this Friday, May 11 from 6:00 to 10:00 at the school. All are invited to come and see the students' work and projects as well as pictures of past events. Our Basket Bonanza will be held in the gym and all are invited to come down and take some chances on the great assortment of Baskets. This is a family event and food will be available to purchase. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday evening!

At this time all tuition should be paid. Please make sure this is taken care of as the end of the year is fast approaching and students will not be able to take part in the end of the year tests and activities. If you haven't completed all payments by Friday, May 5, you will be receiving a letter from Father James the week of May 8 and at that time only cash will be accepted.

Bake Sale

Our Bake Sale this month is sponsored by the Kindergarten. Parents and students of that grade are asked to bake cupcakes, brownies, etc. ( no candy ) for their day. Remember we have 200 students who will want to buy snacks that day. Remember the proceeds will benefit the classroom sponsoring it as well as our school library. We also need the mothers on that morning to help set up, sell, and clean up. This month the Kindergarten will have their Bake Sale Tuesday, May 15, 2007.

Our Walk-a-thon was a fun day for everyone. Now it is time to collect your pledges and send the money into school. All money is due by Wednesday, May 16 to be eligible for the prizes. Each student has a shoe on the wall in school with their name and stickers. A walk with Jesus sticker means we had a permission slip for them. A shoe sticker means we saw their pledge sheet before the walk-a-thon and now a money sticker will be put up when they send in their pledge money. So everyone look for your shoe and if you have all 3 stickers. A big thanks to all who helped last Wednesday.

RECYCLING FOR OUR
CHILDREN'S FUTURE

Abitibi Recycling Paper bin has been a great success for us. The school was a winner in the contest during February and March. we received an extra $200.00 and a banner for the school. We are now in the next contest between now and August 31, so please continue to bring or send your paper to school or drop them off at the church. My thanks for the wonderful support of this recycling process.

Did you know that you can recycle newspaper, magazines, shopping catalogs and mail 24 hours/7days a week at our school? Did you also know that our school earns money for paper dropped off at the green and yellow "Paper Retriever" bin on our campus?

This is an easy way for you to recycle household paper and help us raise money for projects like playground equipment, books and computers.

Please remember to bring your paper to school and drop it in the "Paper Retriever"

Don't forget all those
catalogs and flyers

Thank you for your continued support. ___________

Thank you to all those who have been "Ambassadors for St. Ann School"! We have several new families thus far thanks to your encouragement and selling of the great school we have. Please continue your efforts.
